Feri Labuan 2026: Is the KK–Labuan Ferry Running? (Status & Menumbok Route)
Is there a ferry from Kota Kinabalu to Labuan?
Not right now. The direct KK–Labuan ferry has been suspended since 1 April 2026, and no restart had been announced as at 10 October 2026. To reach Labuan by sea, drive or take a bus to Menumbok (Kuala Penyu district), then take the Menumbok–Labuan ferry. Flights from KK to Labuan also operate.
Status today
KK–Labuan direct ferry
Suspended
We check news reports (Bernama, The Star, Daily Express, Borneo Post) and the terminal operator's notice in English and Malay. As at 10 October 2026 none of them reports the service running again. The Jesselton Point terminal's Labuan page still shows the service as suspended until further notice. If you hear it has restarted, confirm with the operator, Double Power Sdn Bhd, before you travel.
Blogs and booking pages still show the 2025 schedule and fares. Those sailings are not running. Don't plan a trip around them.
How to get to Labuan now
- Get to Menumbok. Menumbok is in Kuala Penyu district, south-west of Kota Kinabalu (LPKP lists the bus route as 155 km). Drive, or take a coach from KK Sentral or City Park Terminal (Menumbok Express, Sipitang Express and Borneo Express run this way, roughly RM18–20). Coach times are not published online, so check at the terminal. Estimates of the drive range from about 1½ to 3 hours, so allow extra time for a fixed sailing.
- Cross to Labuan. The Menumbok–Labuan car ferry is run by Galaxy Ferry and Labuan Ferry, with several sailings a day in each direction. Speedboats also cross, in about 45 minutes, with no published timetable. Passenger fares are not published online, so buy at the counter and confirm times on the day.
- Or fly. Kota Kinabalu–Labuan flights still operate and are the fastest option.
Vehicle fares for the car ferry and the onward ferry from Labuan to Muara, Brunei, are on the ferries page.

- End of March 2026: Stopped because of fuel costs and landing charges at the KK jetty (Bernama and The Star, 2 April 2026). The terminal's notice gives the suspension as effective 1 April 2026, until further notice (Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal).
