Home Bills in Sabah: Electricity, Water and Internet in One Place
Electricity, water and internet are the three bills almost every Sabah home pays each month. This page shows what each one is based on, the free SabahGuide tools that explain your bill, and where to pay.
Water
For a house with its own meter, the Sabah Water Department charges RM0.30 per cubic metre (1,000 litres) for the first 10 m³ a month, rising in steps to RM1.80 above 60 m³, with a RM3.00 minimum charge (Sabah Water Department water tariff, checked 20 October 2026). Condos and flats on a shared bulk meter pay a flat rate instead.
Electricity
SESB charges homes 22.02 sen per kWh for the first 200 kWh a month, with higher rates for each band above that, from 1 February 2026 (SESB Tariff Booklet 2026, p.11). Air-conditioning is usually the biggest part of a home's power bill.
Internet and mobile
Plan prices change often, so check each provider’s own website. Coverage matters more than price in many parts of Sabah: check your exact address before you sign up.
Paying your bills
Most Sabah bills can be paid through JomPAY in your banking app, using the biller code printed on the bill. Our utilities guide lists every payment option, office and contact number.
For water, turn off every tap at night, read the meter, and read it again in the morning. If the number moved, water is escaping somewhere. Our water calculator also compares your bill with your household’s habits.
